Coppett Hill

Natural History:

Pearl Bordered Fritillary

The natural history of Coppett Hill Common has been studied over many years.

In the Flora and Fauna sections we show a summary of what is known of the flora and fauna of the area, much of this has been done by other voluntary groups in Herefordshire, notably the Herefordshire Botanical Society and the Herefordshire Fungus Society on the flora.

On the fauna, work on butterflies has involved co-operation with the West Midlands Butterfly Conservation and Herfordshire Nature Trust  on reptiles.

The comprehensive survey of the woodlands was carried out in 2005 as part of the development of a Native Woodland Plan as the basis for the long term sustainable management of the woodlands.
